Research and Development

GTD has built links with a number of technical partners to enable us to carry out research and development; including Shannon ABC, Limerick Institute of Technology and MSSI, University of Limerick.

GTD was awarded an Enterprise Ireland Innovation Partnership with Limerick Institute oMicrostructuref Technology and we have a team of researchers and students undertaking Master and Doctorates studies in areas of PDC structure, properties and application behaviour. This has allowed GTD to characterise and analyse the microstructure of PDC cutters, enabling us to pinpoint material composition and develop high quality abrasion and impact resistant products. Collaboration with a Third Level Institution will put the required structure in place in order to achieve our Research and Development aims.

GTD has ready access to the most sophisticated and extensive range of research/diagnosticSEM equipment, including, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscope (EDS) and X-Ray Diffraction and Fluorescence (XRD, XRF) testing. of our PDC cutters to characterise and analyse their microstructure which has enabled to pinpoint material composition and develop high quality abrasion and impact resistant products.
